miPuebla

🧡 Puebla Pronto Title of new Google Map list I created today. Prior to now I had been saving Puebla locations to either CDMX, Want To Go, Starred, etc. There's just one place saved so far, designating the center of the area I feel that I want to live: Paseo Bravo, a park along Calle Consitución de 1917, the western edge of the Centro Historico (CH)

ROBCAL, new timeblocks calendar to help me plan & share

notes on flying dunno if it's due to the new self-inflicted bad economy but flight prices are much worse than when I began searching earlier this year. It may be best to fly into CDMX, stay a night or 2 there, before going to Puebla. :/ kinda defeats the purpose of wanting to live in the less popular place

since i didn't make my recon trip in April, I'm now looking at July-September or leaving in December dates. It may be best to even take Greyhound to Miami Intermodal stop at the airport. (I won't be traveling with tons of belongings now, maybe ever.) This plan would save considerable money but may result in spending 12ish hours overnight inside the Miami airport.

Update: I just learned that the MIA train between Intermodal & Airport supposedly runs 5am-midnight. One of the Greyhounds from Jax gets in after midnight. I suppose I'd have to call an Uber in that case :/ So YES the cheapest route from Jax to Puebla might be: Jax-Miami (bus + Uber) + MIA-MEX + MEX-Puebla (bus) There are some cheap MIA-PBC flights tho, so check. Also if I do ever fly into MEX instead I'll stay in a CDMX AirBnb a few nights. In nearly all cases I have found it's cheaper to bus to Miami to fly to Mexico.

Mexperience Blogger's directory of stores where i found the gourmet City Market / there's one in the Angelopolis shopping district sw of CH — loose teas, good meats and pastas, cheeses*, dine-in... lots of reasons to check out City Market (also delivers free)

*that got me thinking of...

CHEESE TASTING yes this deserves its own section! I have decided that finding a cute cheese shop that offers tastings is a top priority. I do not know much about Mexican cheeses & obviously I want to. It's a matter of pride and also pocketbook. I do not want to buy imported European cheeses when cognates are available.

I really do not know much about these cheeses. I watched a video but I think they took a lot of stock photos and it isn't accurate. I want to learn, not only the traditional cheeses but I'm sure that there are food nerds making new cheeses there just like here.

Zipolite nude beach town in Oaxaca on the Pacific, a fun place to go when Puebla is cold — don't go at end of Jan/early Feb unless you want to be part of a big festival!

I had researched e-bikes & also taking my car. Today I found a Fri-Mon car rental rate under USD$100 so I think that is the best option for excursions when I don't have a direct bus available. A YouTuber I just started following advises NOT to rent cars at airports in Mexico (cost more) & to arrange it more locally.

I've imagined renting cars to pick up special visitors from airports (especially if MEX). This would offer an opportunity to spend a little time in CDMX before Puebla.
